We understand that guests may have questions while reserving our holiday apartments in Hobart. So, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most common queries we receive. Please feel free to contact us should you need any other information. We’ll be delighted to help.
Absolutely! There are no service fees when you book directly with us and you can save 8-9% on your reservation. Please use the coupon code DIRECT while making your reservation.
For every direct booking, we don’t have to pay a commission to the booking sites and we pass on all the advantage to you. You’ll get the same apartment, the same comfort and professional service for lesser money.
That said, please note that if you enquire via another site and ask us to waive the service fee, we’re not able to do that because doing so would mean violating terms and conditions agreed with those larger corporates. However if you enquire directly here, we’ll be happy to guarantee our best rate.
All our apartments are 24 hours self check-in, so you can arrive or leave at anytime.
Check-in is after 2pm on the date of arrival. We are happy to cater for early check-in whenever possible. Please ask and confirm in advance so that we can do our best to meet your needs.
We email you access information closer to your arrival day. This email provides you with codes to access your accommodation, wifi password etc. Once you arrive, you’ll let yourselves in with the key code we provide.
Your keys are stored onsite in a key box located beside the main door of your unit. We send you codes to the key box and wifi etc a few days before arrival. Therefore, you can let yourselves in at anytime. Of course, you can contact us and we’ll be happy to assist should you need any further assistance.
To open the key box:
- Open the sliding cover to reveal the four-wheel numerical combination lock
- Input the access code provide to you in your arrival mail
- Pull down on the small lever to open the key compartment
- Remove the key, close the key compartment door and close the keypad cover
Note: We may ask for a government issued ID to confirm your identity. The name on the ID must match the name on the debit/credit card to confirm check-in.
To return the keys at the end of your stay, just follow the same procedure. Please also ensure that all heaters etc are turned off and that all windows and doors are closed.
Reception / Interaction with guests / Questions
Guests have the exclusive use of the apartment and are left entirely alone for the duration of the stay. There is no reception but we’re available via phone and in person, should you have any questions. We’re happy to welcome you and help out 🙂
Tasmanian climate can vary greatly – on any given day. It can be sunny one hour and then rainy and wintery the next hour. Therefore, we advise you to carry clothes for both warm and cold weather regardless of when you are travelling.
A rain jacket might also come in handy. It’s a good idea to dress in layers and to be adequately prepared even if the weather seems nice when you start a daytrip. Also bring some comfortable walking and hiking shoes.
We provide everything to make your stay truly comfortable and enjoyable. We provide bed linens, blankets, pillows and towels for our guests. Your complimentary tea and coffee making provisions are also supplied in the main kitchen, including teabags, coffee, milk and sugar. Kitchens have tea and coffee making facilities, cooktop and oven, fridge, microwave, toaster and cookware, so it should be easy for you to cook a meal should you wish to. All apartments also have washer and dryer with complimentary laundry detergent.
There are cafes, restaurants, delicatessens and grocery stores nearby and you can arrange for Coles or Woolworths to deliver groceries for you on the day you arrive. Just make sure that you arrange a delivery time where you can be sure to receive it. For easy meals, there are also lots of ready-made meal and take-away options.
We can also provide cots, high-chairs or additional roll-away beds for a fee. Please arrange at least 48 hours upfront.
So just get here with your suitcase and some food to cook, and let a beautiful adventure begin.
It is really easy to get to Long Beach House accommodation and explore Hobart and surrounds.
Directions to Long Beach House self-contained accommodations
It normally takes about half an hour to drive from the airport.
If you are driving, then you can follow these directions
- Follow Holyman Ave to Tasman Hwy/A3
- At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Tasman Hwy/A3
- Take Davey St/A6 and Sandy Bay Rd/B68 to Wayne Ave in Sandy Bay
- The house is located on Wayne Avenue just before it meets Churchill Avenue.
If you are not driving, there are also taxis available outside the airport. The fare would be between $40-60.
There is free off-street parking available on site. Reservation is not needed.
The car park is situated at the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Churchill Avenue. A green sign “Reserved Parking” will point also towards the parking. Your allotted car park number will be the same as your apartment unit number.
You can use the driveway for loading and unloading your luggage. Please do not park the car on the driveway.
We reserve parking space for 1 vehicle per apartment. Additional cars can be parked on Churchill Avenue.
Nearby Bus Stops
There are 2 bus stops nearby – one at 625 Sandy Bay Road and another opposite 530 Churchill Avenue. Both have frequent bus services to the UTAS, Hobart CBD and surrounds. Read more about using public transport here.

Long Beach House is perfectly located in the heart of Sandy Bay, one of those eclectic and premier suburbs. It is in a sought after area close to Hobart CBD but also gaining popularity as a university suburb and so has an interesting mix of diverse cultures. You can walk to the beach, casino, shops, university, yachts clubs, cafes and restaurants.
The family accommodations are a 10 minutes drive from Hobart CBD and Salamanca markets and 5 minutes from UTAS or Wrest Point Casino. And, Sandy Bay Road is the start of the picturesque drive to the serene Huon Valley and the South West Tasmania.
The much-loved Long Beach is a short 7 minutes walk away – it is surrounded by the Royal Yacht Club, cafes and restaurants, delicatessens, grocery shops, wine and bottle shop, butcher shop, pharmacy, newsagents, parkland, playground, walking trails, and even a hairdresser salon and medical center. Hobart Twilight Market held at the beach is a popular Friday event during the summer months that is enjoyed by locals and tourists alike. Long beach is also famous for the annual solstice swim marking the end of MONA‘s Dark Mofo Festival.
Alexandra Battery Park is a mere 300 meters. The park has expansive views of the River Derwent and is a popular gathering point for fans to watch the final stages of the annual Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race, held over the New Year period.
Distances from popular attractions: We are a 10 minutes drive from Hobart CBD and Salamanca markets and 5 minutes from UTAS or Wrest Point Casino. And, Sandy Bay Road is the start of the picturesque drive to the serene Huon Valley and the South West Tasmania. Long Beach House holiday rentals are about half hour from Hobart International Airport and MONA, Museum of Old and New Art.

We are minutes away from Tasmania’s leading gourmet delicatessen and patisserie, Lipscombe Larder. They provide excellent local produce, wines, meals and cakes and are the perfect store to pick up supplies for your picnic hamper, shop for dinner, and taste amazing local Tasmanian produce. Fresco Market is another grocery store in the same shopping center.
Popular supermarket chains, Coles and Woolworths, are also about 5 minutes drive away. Both Coles and Woolworths will also deliver to Long Beach House holiday apartments for a small fee. We recommend you book a delivery for the evening that you arrive. If you are staying for a week you might also like to book another delivery later on in your stay to top up on supplies.
Please check cafes, restaurants, delicatessens and grocery stores nearby and other ready-made meal and take-away options.
All guests and visitors must comply with these house rules. Violation of these rules can result in extra charges and/or eviction in extreme cases:
i. Any unauthorized visitors must not stay overnight.
ii. This is a residential premise in a quiet neighborhood. Please be respectful and keep noise to a minimum at all times during your occupancy. Strictly no parties.
iii. Children must be supervised at all times. Decorator items and furniture etc. must not be used as toys or moved.
iv. Please do not leave any dirty dishes behind.
v. Garbage must be disposed off properly. Excess garbage must not be left in public or common areas.
vi. Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property.
vii. All appliances and items are provided for your convenience during your stay. If you wish to take them with you, extra charges will apply.
viii. While checking out, please close all doors and windows, and leave keys in the key box just as you found them when you arrived.
ix. You can be asked to provide a government issued ID for verification purposes to confirm check-in.

You’ll find a first aid box in your apartment to help with any small wounds etc.

The 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom holiday apartments boast beautiful mountain and water views. The studio apartment does not offer any views. However, it has its own private patio to leave guests with a serene and tranquil feeling.
