The weekly Salamanca Market is arguably one of the most popular tourist attractions. But if you are not going be in Hobart on a Saturday, or if you are simply looking for other fun things to do, here’s a weekly event list that can help make your days more exciting.

Jokers Comedy Club

Don’t we all want some fun during the week? Featuring headline comedians from all over Australia (and overseas) plus hilarious support acts – you are always guaranteed a great night out! Make sure you buy your tickets in time.

Live Entertainment

The Republic Bar is one of Hobart’s most popular and lively bars with live entertainment every night of the week. Posh pub grub, craft beers and live music in an art deco building with stonewalls and log fires.

Jam – Jazz at Mona

Enjoy live music while you enjoy a picnic at Mona. There are tables and chairs, and undercover beanbags to make your day out truly special.

A live music event run by the musicians themselves in the beautiful courtyard of Salamanca. The music may be anything from gypsy swing, cool funk or latin sambas to daft disco, but there is always plenty of dancing and the ambience is super thrilling.

Hobart Twilight Market

From October to March, Friday evenings at Long Beach in Sandy Bay showcases a superb selection of Tasmanian eats, drinks, design and music!

Where: Long Beach, Sandy Bay / Macquarie Point, Hobart

When: First and Third Friday’s Oct – Mar 4:30pm – 9pm

The Old Avalon Theatre Indoor Market

This market offers a wide range of Tasmanian arts and crafts, Merino and Mohair wool, throws and scarfs, convict-heritage cards, books and bonnets, wood puzzles, Antarctic and Australian native soft toys, souvenirs; embroidery, action figures, games, furniture, pottery, bottles, gifts, flowers, candle-making, recycled items and good food

Hobart Parkrun

Take part in a 5km Torrens Park Run. The course is run entirely on gravel paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place. Register beforehand.

All Saints Market

Come to this charming market where you will find stalls located throughout the beautiful gardens and in the church hall. There are stalls of all sorts ranging from home baked goodies to hand-made crafts, second hand goods to re-purposed items and more.

When: Every last Saturday of the month from 9am-2pm

Hobart Showground Market

Choose from second hand electrical goods, beautiful glassware and ceramics, tools, quality restored furniture, books or vegies and fruits.

Farm Gate Market

Farm Gate market provides fresh local produce and foodie treasures like olive oil, cool climate wine, spirits from boutique distilleries, healthy treats, artisan breads, cakes and sourdough donuts, jams, mustards and preserves, locally roasted coffee and hand blended tea. Get to meet the farmers and producers who grow or make these artisan goods and enjoy a relaxing Sunday.

Fortnightly Quiz Night 

Test your knowledge at this fortnightly quiz night to enjoy a great atmosphere, music and food. And who knows, you might win some free drinks.

Kingston Beach Handmade Market

This market brings together an eclectic mix of local artists, designers, craftspeople, growers and gourmets.  It offers a wonderful mix of high quality handmade and home grown items such as handmade toys, jewellery, stationery, homewards, portraiture, body products, artwork, children’s clothing, jams and preserves, native plants, delicious food and much, much more…

And finally, Salamanca Markets… No event list for Hobart can be ever complete without mentioning this iconic crowd puller. If there is only one thing you can do in your trip, then choose to celebrate Tasmania’s unique culture while you browse around more than 300 stalls amidst the beautiful Georgian sandstone buildings. You’ll find beautiful handcrafted artisan goods, delicious local produce, and talented musicians all in one place to leave you feeling perfectly relaxed and festive.
